We Can Do Better

Take a deep breath of the air
And all of the junk that we dump up there
Lungs black from smokestacks and Cadillacs
I just know we can do better

And what of the Ocean blue
An acid broth for a plastic stew
Let’s clean this home for us
I just know we can do better

And all I could ever want is
To be the generation that puts an end to this
And all I could ever hope to be
Part of a human race that had the integrity

Kids are goin’ hungry still
And the ugly food piles up at the landfill
Waste not and want not, we’ve got a whole lot of new thought
We oughta throw at this

And I don’t mean to sound accusatory
Behind each choice is a whole lot of story
And I’ve told tall tales too myself
I’m just like anybody else

And I know that we can do better
I know there’s a whole lot of cheddar to be made
But don’t let the feelin’ fade

I know it might seem insurmountable
It’s just so hard to be accountable
For every little thing we do on the daily
We’d better find a way

We must
